Speech Therapy

At Harberton School we have four part-time speech and language therapists and a speech and language therapy assistant.

The Speech and Language Therapy team is responsible for assessing, diagnosing and treating children with a wide range of communication difficulties including speech, language, voice and fluency and children who have difficulty with eating, drinking or swallowing.

The therapy each child receives will depend on their individual needs and may be provided in a variety of forms, e.g. individual therapy, group therapy, class-based therapy, a home programme, advice and support to parents and teachers or parent training workshops.

The team works closely with education staff, other professionals and parents/carers to facilitate each child’s development and maximise their communicative potential.  Parents are encouraged to play an active role in supporting their child by carrying out speech and language activities at home.
