Foundation & Key Stage 1

Children in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 engage in a range of practical, activity-based learning opportunities.  Curricular concepts are modelled by staff and further developed through indoor and outdoor learning, play-based activity, group work, multisensory activities and reinforcement tasks.

Staff encourage and foster the use of appropriate communication and language during everyday activities and opportunities. Tasks are developed with each individual pupil’s IEP in mind and staff focus not only on the teaching and learning of curricular concepts, but also on the development of each child’s personal development for mutual understanding and their thinking skills and personal capabilities. We foster this through a routine and predictable timetable with the inclusion of activities such as Attention Autism, TACPAC, Sensory Circuits, Sensory Stories, Sensology and more.
