The Senior School

The Education Authority has indicated that all special schools will be moving towards offering placement from ages 3 – 19.  Mr Curran will keep parents/guardians fully apprised of the situation and how this relates to their children.

The young people in the senior school will follow the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum at a level that is appropriate to their ability.  The children’s classrooms and routines will be more on a par with what is expected at secondary level with the learners encouraged to be more autonomous and mature in their approaches, while still being offered the support of a high adult-pupil ratio.  Furthermore, the young people will be entrusted with roles of greater responsibility within the school and encouraged to act as mentors to younger pupils.
