Rights Respecting Schools Award
Harberton is a school which has children’s rights at the heart of its ethos. We are a school which creates safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive.
In order to gain recognition for this, our school is on a rights respecting journey in partnership with UNICEF. Our aim is to achieve the full ‘Rights Respecting Schools Award’ which will be presented by UNICEF. We have already achieved ROC status (Recognition of Commitment) and we are working towards the silver status of the award and we hope to achieve gold status in the near future.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award recognises that our school, through the teaching of the UNCRC (UN Convention on the Rights of the Child), gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.
